  • Samana primarily focuses on immersive surf and yoga retreats, designed as complete, in-person experiences where you can deeply reconnect with your body, mind, and the ocean.

    These retreats combine surf coaching, yoga, mind-and nervous system work, and personal development into one structured journey, supported by experienced coaches in a small-group setting.

    Alongside our retreats, we also offer additional ways to work with us:

    • Online masterclasses for surf mindset, technique, and personal growth

    • 1:1 surf mental coaching (online or in-person) tailored to your individual needs

    • Psychosomatic therapy sessions to support deeper emotional and physical alignment

    These options are ideal if you’re not able to join a retreat (yet), or if you’re looking for more personalized, ongoing support.

    Our approach is holistic; we don’t just help you improve your surfing, but support you in developing awareness, resilience, and confidence that carries into everyday life.

  • We’re not based in one fixed location. Samana Surf Retreats organises intimate retreats in carefully selected destinations and accommodations, in collaboration with local partners.

    Currently, we host retreats in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. Always close to the ocean, nature, and local culture. You can explore all current destinations, dates, and accommodation details on our retreat page.

  • First of all, we love to keep things personal. We work with small groups, so there’s space for real connection and individual attention from the team behind Samana: Anni & Daisy. We are fully involved in every retreat.

    Anni is an ISA-licensed surf instructor, sports mental coach, and fitness trainer. Daisy is a yoga & pilates teacher and physiotherapist with a master’s in psychosomatic therapy. With our backgrounds we are able to support you from different angles.

    Before the retreat, we always connect with you on a video call and send out a short survey. That way we understand your surf level, your goals, and also what you want on a more personal level. We use this to shape the retreat according to the individual needs.

    We also work closely with local partners, learning from their knowledge of the waves, the place, and the culture.

    The main thing that makes us different is our approach. We believe that surfing is much more than a sport. We believe in the transformative power of the ocean, the mind, and the body. Real progress doesn’t only come from improving technique or physical fitness, but from learning to work with the mind, and the emotions that arise in the water. Every wave invites us to face fear, excitement, frustration, and joy.

    Our retreats blend surf coaching, surf mental training, yoga, breathwork, nervous system regulation, and movement. Whether you want to catch your first wave or elevate your surfing skills, our holistic approach supports growth both on and off the board.

  • Each retreat includes accommodation, surf coaching, surf mental and emotional coaching, video analysis, yoga and meditation sessions, and most meals. Besides that, each retreat offers different things like excursions, surfskate and workshops.

  • Flights and travel insurance are not included. We recommend getting insurance that covers surfing and travel-related issues. Not all retreats include airport pick-up. Also hardtop surfboards might not be included.

  • Our currently planned retreats are designed for beginners to intermediate surfers. Whether it’s your first time on a board or you’re already surfing green waves and want to improve your skills, you are welcome to join us!

    Before the retreat we will meet you over a call, and send a survey to know more about your surf level and needs to make sure we can support you in the best way.

    • 14:00 - Time to rest and explore

    • 17:00 - Video Analysis

    • 18:00 - Surf Mental Coaching

    • 19:30 - Dinner - Time to connect, share stories & good vibes

  • It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done yoga before or if you already have experience. All yoga sessions are adapted to each person’s level. 

    Yoga is not about performing, it’s about connecting and listening to your body and your needs. The sessions will support recovery, body awareness, and nervous system regulation to feel more grounded in and out of the water.

    Daisy will guide you through the sessions and is always there if you have any specific questions, needs, injuries, or things you want to focus on.

  • You’ll stay in carefully selected accommodations that offer a comfortable and welcoming environment close to the ocean. Depending on the retreat, this can be a surf house, villa, or small retreat space. Rooms are usually shared, with private options sometimes available.

    Each location is a bit different, so we always recommend checking the specific retreat page for details and photos.

  • We keep our groups small to ensure personal attention and a supportive atmosphere, usually with a maximum of 10 participants.

  • Yes, a lot of our guests come solo. The retreats are designed to create a safe, welcoming space where you can easily connect with others.

  • You can send a booking request directly through our website, we will get back to you as soon as possible to confirm the booking. Once your spot is confirmed, a deposit is required to secure your place.

  • A deposit is required to confirm your booking, and the remaining balance is due before the retreat starts. The deposit is non-refundable. Cancellation terms depend on how far in advance you cancel. You can check our terms and conditions for the exact details.

  • We plan retreats around the best seasons, but we can’t control nature. We adapt the schedule to make the most of the surf conditions and weather. There’s always a mix of activities to ensure a valuable experience regardless of the surf.

  • We focus on fresh, nourishing meals that keep you feeling good throughout the day.

    The food is usually a mix of local dishes and simple international options, always made with fresh ingredients. We can also adapt to dietary requirements whenever possible, just let us know in advance.

  • In some retreats the airport transfers are included, in others we can still organise the transport for you. The exact details (pick-up point, timing, and cost if applicable) depend on the specific retreat.

  • Yes, you can. Many people do a bit of remote work while they’re here.

    That said, the retreat is designed to help you step out of your usual routine as much as possible, so we always recommend keeping work light and allowing yourself real time to disconnect.

  • Yes, that’s possible.

    If you prefer not to surf or want to take a break from it, you’re welcome to join the yoga and workshops only. We’ll always adapt the experience to your needs and comfort level.

    Just keep in mind that surfing is a big part of the retreat experience, so the overall rhythm of the group will still include surf sessions.

  • In most cases, yes.

    We’re happy to help you extend your stay or arrive earlier so you can spend more time in the destination. It always depends on availability, but we’ll guide you through the options.
